Rural Beat was founded because the world needs more rural.

Co-Founders Maureen and Myron Belej believe the best rural stories, practices, people and projects deserve to be shared from and around the world.

Together, the couple has worked with small and large governments, not-for-profits, agri-food and other corporations, media outlets, schools, as well as NGOs, community and environmental organizations for more than two decades.

Maureen, a creative writer, and Myron, a community improvement consultant, have an active family that enjoys visiting farmers’ markets, championing sustainability, and meeting new people while connecting with nature and experiencing the best that rural has to offer.
